I have always been a lover of books. There is something so traditional and comforting about them. Probably just the happy memories of being read to as a child. Anyway, when I married my husband, we didn’t have children right away, but every Father’s Day I have given him a small children’s book as a gift. I started out collecting Sandra Boynton since he is a such a fan. When my son was born it was all the father son books, with my daughter, Beatrix Potter; each tenderly inscribed with my expressions of appreciation to my husband for his fatherhood. It brings me so much joy to see my family experience the delight of reading together. It is a beautiful thing to have your child climb into your lap and say, “Read, Me!”
So, to all you fathers, Happy Father’s Day. Gather your babies around you, young or old and enjoy every one’s favorite past time- A good book.
